This tour includes visits to various archaeological sites with activities that engage with local culture. You will be accompanied throughout the trip by a professional guide. Best of all, you will have the opportunity to try delicious local delicacies (cost not included) and buy beautiful hand made souvenirs.
We will pick you up from your hotel located in the city of Cusco. If your hotel is not located in Cusco, please inform us in advance in order to arrange transport from your hotel.
We will pick you up from your Hotel at around 7:50 a.m. and take you to the local crafts market at Qoroa an hour away. Here, you will be able to appreciate the artistic ingenuity of the local Andean people.
Later, we will set off towards the quaint town of Pisac while stopping on the way to take spectacular photos from viewpoints overlooking the valley. When in Pisac, we will visit the local Intihuatana ruins on the mountain peak, and later, visit a diverse local craft markets in the area. Make sure to get a great bargain here!
At around 12:30 p.m., we will leave for the town of Urubamba. On the way, following the river, we will pass through other small towns like Coya, Lamay and Calca - you may want to come back one day! In Urubamba, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant (not included in the price of the tour). You can choose to have us reserve your food before hand, or eat at a restaurant of your choice, or bring a packed lunch.
After a short journey of around 40 minutes in our transport, we will arrive at the beautiful and serene village of Ollantaytambo (oi-yan-teye-tam-boh). The ancient village is lined with 500-year-old Inca streets, preserved in their original form to this day. You will also get the chance to visit the local ruins nearby.
After discovering the magic of Ollantaytambo, we will go on to the nearby train station. There, we will board our train that takes us through the Andean valley to the Machu Picchu Village, also known as, ‘Aguas Calientes’. Our arrival time will depend on the train schedule of the day.
In Aguas Calientes, our staff will be waiting to collect you and take you to the hotel based on the quality of hotel that you choose. It is time to relax in this tropical climate and prepare yourself for the big day ahead - a thrill of an experience!
Starting our day with a healthy breakfast in the hotel, we will later board a bus that takes approximately 35 minutes to the entrance. We will have finally arrived to the truly marvellous Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu (2,250 m.a.s.l.)
After passing through various check points, this spectacular engineering and architectural marvel will reveal its true glory with the break of dawn. Arriving at the site at this hour will have an amazing impact on upon you.
Later, our expert guide will show you the secrets of Machu Picchu in a 2-hour tour. We will pass through the main plaza, the urban area, the round tower, the sun dial, the temple of three windows, the Inca cemetery among other important sites. You will truly begin to feel what it was like to have lived like an Inca in this great citadel!
If you are impressed by a certain area, want to retake a photo, or simply take a moment to contemplate and recharge, that is no problem. After our guided tour, you will have some free time to wander the site by yourself.
To end, we will board the bus back down from the site to the village of Machu Picchu ‘Aguas Calientes’. There we will have time to enjoy the mini-metropolis. Perhaps, you will want to grab something to eat or take a visit to the local hot springs.
Our adventure will now soon be over. We will let you know when your return train departs (usually either 6:20 p.m or 7:00 p.m.) for Ollantaytambo. There, our transport will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.
