This tour includes visits to various archaeological sites with activities that engage with local culture. You will be accompanied throughout the trip by a professional guide.
We will pick you up from your hotel located in the city of Cusco. If your hotel is not located in Cusco, please inform us in advance in order to arrange transport from your hotel.
After we pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 a.m., we will set off for the train station at Ollantaytambo, approximately 90 minutes away, where you will also be able to buy any last-minute supplies.
While the sun rises, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Village) that winds down through the Andean valley, arriving between 7:40 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. depending on the departure time from Ollantaytambo. You will get to enjoy a spectacular views from the train of mountain peaks and the mighty Vilcanota river throughout the trip.
The big moment is nearly here! After leaving the train, we will take a minibus from the village up to the archaeological site you have been waiting a lifetime to see: the great site of Machu Picchu (2,2,50 m.a.s.l.).
After passing through some security check points, you will finally come face to face with this engineering historical Inca spectacle. Later, our expert guide will show you the secrets of Machu Picchu in a 2-hour tour. We will pass through the main plaza, the urban area, the round tower, the sun dial, the temple of three windows, the Inca cemetery among other important sites. You will truly begin to feel what it was like to have lived like an Inca in this great citadel!
If you are impressed by a certain area, want to retake a photo, or simply take a moment to contemplate and recharge, that is no problem. After our guided tour, you will have some free time to wander the site by yourself.
To end, we will board the bus back down from the site to the village of Machu Picchu ‘Aguas Calientes’. There we will have time to enjoy the mini-metropolis. Perhaps, you will want to grab something to eat or take a visit to the local hot springs.
Our adventure will now soon be over. We will let you know when your return train departs (usually either, 2:55 p.m., 6:20 p.m or 7:00 p.m.) for Ollantaytambo. There, our transport will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.
